Toronto Estonian Chess Club Spring Tournament results


The Toronto Estonian Chess Club held its first tournament after many years at the Estonian House on April 6th last Sunday. Eight brave players showed up to demonstrate their prowess on the chess board. The tournament was catered by Ulle Veltmann with coffee and "pirukad". The tournament was played in 5 rounds using the Swiss system of play, winners play winners, losers play losers.

After the smoke had cleared the eventual winner was Alar Petersoo who won every one of his games but had to leave after the fourth round to pick up his children.

The final results after tie-breaks were as follows:
1st Place –Alar Petersoo 4 points
2nd Place- Mati Saastamoinen 4 points
3rd Place- Jaak Järve 4 points
4th Place- Jaak Treifeldt 2 points
5th Place- Don Mosley 2 points
6th Place- Mikk Mõlder 2 points
7th Place- Alfred Veltmann 1 point
8th Place- Mai Vomm Järve ½ point
