Hungarian Consul General, Stefania Szabo speaks about her country’s position on refugees from the middle East

"We do allow entry to Hungary but they must be checked out, verified as genuine refugees," said Stefania Szabo, Consul General of Hungary in Toronto, and added, "Most of the refugees refuse to do that, they simply want to go through Hungary, to Germany or Austria. Now Germany and Austria are also demanding certification.

"Only one third of the persons that come different places (through the conventional corridor) are actually from Syria, the rest are from countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc. That is why they don't want to identify themselves. It's too bad the media in Canada doesn't explain this," said Szabo.

“Hungary accepts many refugees, but they must be genuine refugees from danger zones like Syria and identified as such,” she stressed.
